Updated 4.03pm: Auckland Transport's seeking public feedback on a new fare scheme which will see prices rise - but most people will pay less as zones are being restructured.
The new zone system will see AT move from a distance-based scheme to 14 zones across the city.
It also allows Hop card users to treat their entire trip as one continuous journey, rather than paying new fees each time they transfer to a new bus, train or ferry.
That means while the cost of fares are increasing, they will work out to be cheaper than the current system where a user would have to pay a new fare for every transfer.
The proposal is open for public submissions from today.
