Business confidence in New Zealand has fallen to its lowest level since March 2011.
The latest NZIER Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion shows nine percent of businesses expect deterioration in the economy over the coming months.
However the drop in confidence is in stark contrast to firms' trading activity.
Twelve percent recorded an improvement in their own trading activity in the past quarter.
