There's confusion as to who may be in the right after a computer glitch saw heavily reduced items get sold by Harvey Norman.
Hundreds of people purchased heavily reduced items, due to a computer from Harvey Norman over an eight hour period during an online sale.
Harvey Norman is offering a refund and a 100 hundred dollar voucher.
Sue Chetwin from Consumer New Zealand says this could be a murky dispute.
"Well potentially it is a breach of the fair trading act because it's misleading advertising and you couldn't buy those things at that price, so it's not clear cut. It would be interesting if this did proceed to some action say by the Commerce Commission."
Sue Chetwin says some people would have genuinely believed those were the prices.
