The miners union says there will be a few workers who decide their own fate ahead of a restructure decision at Stockton Mine today.
Solid Energy announced earlier this month it will cut 113 jobs from its West Coast mine operation by mid-year.
It's been in consultation with workers over the past three weeks.
EPMU organiser Garth Elliot has been fielding questions from workers about voluntary redundancies before today.
"[They'll be] weighing up in their own mind what might be better for them whether they'll take a voluntary redundancy at this stage or try and take and hang around, obviously tossing up their options," Elliot said.
"I'm not sure what way it's going to go. There have been concerns out there."
"We've taken them to the company to try to the best of our ability to alleviate their concerns. It's a game of sit and wait."
