Organic milk producers are in for a good payday as Fonterra begins to recognise their product for what it is.
The dairy giant has announced it will pay organic milk farmers nine dollars and twenty cents per kilogram of milk solids, nearly four dollars more per kilo than what they are currently receiving.
Fonterra's Paul Grave says while the price is a big step up, it reflects the consistently high prices for organic products in the global market.
