Police investigating the disappearance of聽have arrested a man and charged him with kidnapping.

Bao was last seen in the Wigram area about 10.30am on Wednesday. She has not been found but her cellphone was located on the Southern Motorway on Friday.

On Sunday Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves said a man had been charged with kidnapping in relation to the ongoing investigation into Bao鈥檚 disappearance.

鈥淗e has been remanded in custody and is due in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow.鈥

罢丑别听贬别谤补濒诲听understands the person was arrested at an airport and it鈥檚 understood they were planning to leave the country.

Reeves said the investigation was ongoing, and several people were assisting Police with inquiries.

鈥淎s part of those inquiries, Police are seeking sightings of a vehicle a silver Mitsubishi sedan, registration DPH101.

鈥淲e鈥檙e interested in sightings of the vehicle from mid-week up until last night, but with a particular focus on the vehicle鈥檚 location on Wednesday 19 July in Wigram, Hornby, Tai Tapu, Halswell, Redcliffs, and New Brighton.鈥

On Saturday evening, Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves said the investigation resulted in a vehicle of interest being seized and search warrants being executed at two addresses, one in Bryndwr and one in Wigram.

鈥淎s a result, several people are assisting police with inquiries.鈥

Police left the Iroquois Pl property on Sunday afternoon.

A man who was at the home police were searching, declined to comment when approached by the聽贬别谤补濒诲听on Sunday.

鈥淚 know nothing and I don鈥檛 think I can say anything.鈥

鈥淚 totally don鈥檛 know what happened.鈥

Asked if he knew Bao, the man said 鈥渘o鈥.

鈥淣o comment, sorry, I don鈥檛 know.鈥

A neighbour told the聽Herald聽the Mitsubishi police are seeking information on was usually parked on Iroquois Pl.

Police investigating 鈥榤ore than 40 pieces of information鈥

Earlier on Saturday, Reeves said police had received 鈥渕ore than 40 pieces of information from the public which we are in the process of assessing.

鈥淲e want to thank the public for coming forward, and encourage anyone who has not done so to let us know if they have information that may assist.鈥

One of Bao鈥檚 friends, Jin Tian, posted on her Facebook page she had last spoken to Bao, who she called Emily, at 11.16am on Wednesday on WeChat.

鈥淪he mentioned about a potential client who wants to transfer money to NZ and checked if about the rate and channel.

鈥淭hen she said she was going to call the person to see how he/she wanted and would call me back. And she did not,鈥 Tian wrote.

In another post, Tian said she was not sure where Bao was when she called her.

On Friday, Reeves said police were 鈥済rowingly concerned鈥 for Bao.

鈥滿s Bao鈥檚 disappearance is unexplained, and a missing person investigation remains ongoing.

鈥漇he was last seen conducting her business as a real estate agent on Vickerys Rd in the Wigram Area about 10.30am.

鈥漇ince then, she failed to pick up her daughter from after-school care, and her car, a silver Nissan Dualis, has been located nearby the area she was last seen on Iroquois Place.

鈥漈oday, police searched a number of areas and located Ms Bao鈥檚 cellphone on the Southern Motorway. But Ms Bao remains missing.鈥

Reeves said the longer Bao was missing, the more police concerns would grow.

She said the fact she didn鈥檛 have her cellphone, which was found in bushes at the side of the motorway, was particularly concerning.

She said police had been fortunate with the information coming from members of the public.

鈥淚t鈥檚 through that good investigative work and help from the public we鈥檝e been able to find her phone,鈥 Reeves said.

Reeves said police would 鈥渓ook into鈥 Bao and her history.

The last person who saw Bao was a homeowner, whom Bao visited.

鈥漌e are now interested to hear from any members of the public who might have been travelling on the motorway on Wednesday and noticed anything out of the ordinary.

鈥滱nyone with any piece of information no matter how small is encouraged to contact police immediately.

鈥漃olice have also been conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area she was last seen.

鈥滻f you live in this area and have not spoken with police, but have access to CCTV footage of the street area, police would like to hear from you.

鈥滻 would like to reiterate that police and Ms Bao鈥檚 family are deeply concerned for her safety. This is very out of character and her loved ones are desperate to hear from her and know she is safe.鈥

Bao鈥檚 husband, Paul Gooch, had also prepared a statement which was provided to media.

鈥滿y family and I are deeply concerned for the safety and wellbeing of my beloved wife, Yanfei Bao.

鈥漁ur 9-year-old daughter and I are desperate for any information that could help police locate her.鈥

Bao was a 鈥渄edicated real estate consultant鈥 who was 鈥渆ngaging with the local community through door knocking when she went missing and we have not heard from her since.

鈥漌e are incredibly worried and ask for any assistance from anyone that knows something.

鈥漌e pray for Yanfei鈥檚 safe return and would like to thank everyone for their vigilance and support at this time.鈥

Bao鈥檚 profile on the Harcourts site said she has 鈥渆xtensive experience鈥 in sales, and was previously a top-selling salesperson in a major electronics brand.
