Police have now confirmed a body found in Australia in 2013 is that of an alleged serial rapist from Hamilton.
The man was accused of attacking three women in the central city area in 2007, six or seven weeks apart.
He died in July 2013 in Australia.
Detective Inspector Chris Page says Police have confirmed his identity in the last week.
"Upon receiving the final information earlier this month, the SR worked quickly on this matter and on Saturday were able to give me the identity confirmation."
Police aren't naming the man.
