The mother of a teen who's been missing for a week says she can't sleep not knowing where her son is, and if he's okay.
Police said 17-year-old Yuri Santana was last seen on Badham Rd, near the intersection of Rangitata Island Rd, near Temuka, at 11.40am on October 4, an hour after he left home.
Yuri's mother, Rosy Santana, said she was going to take her son to a doctors appointment on the day of his disappearance to address a mental illness - she thinks he wanted to skip the visit.
Ms Santana said she just wants him home with her.
"I would love to say 'please come home, I miss you so much, I love you, I cannot sleep without you."
She said they're trying not to think of the worst.
"I want to think that he's okay and is probably somewhere hiding. It's better than thinking something really bad has happened to him because that makes me suffer more."
