A fan who said he woke up from a coma after hearing Coldplay鈥檚 music was pulled on stage to sing together in a heartwarming moment at the band鈥檚 Eden Park concert in Auckland last night.
American man Dylan Bode held a large sign in the crowd that read, 鈥淵our music woke me up from a coma! Can we sing about this magic together?鈥
Magic is one of the British band鈥檚 hit songs from their 2014 album Ghost Stories.
About four songs into the show, frontman Chris Martin spotted the sign and called the 32-year-old to join him on stage.
鈥淎ll right, welcome. Come with me man, you鈥檙e just the person I wanted to see,鈥 he said.
Martin complimented Bode鈥檚 shoes and visual aesthetic as he sat down with him behind a keyboard. The frontman told him: 鈥淔irst of all, amazing sneakers. Look at these amazing tattoos. You look like my brother. You鈥檙e a f* rockstar.鈥
鈥淵ou look handsome. You look gorgeous. Looks like things are going great for you鈥.
Martin then started the opening of the wistful, dreamlike song: 鈥淐all it magic. Call it true.鈥
As the pair harmonised, the captivated crowd alternated between erupting in cheers and listening in quiet reverence. Some were visibly moved, with a few seen wiping away tears.
Bode and Martin exchanged a warm hug shortly after singing the line, 鈥淒o you believe in magic / Oh yes I do鈥.
Many Coldplay fans at the concert took to social media to express how emotional it was to see the moment Bode had with the band.
鈥淭his was so beautiful I bawled my eyes out,鈥 one person wrote on Instagram.
鈥淭his had me so emotional last night at the concert. A truly 鈥榤agic鈥 moment,鈥 wrote another.
Another person who appeared to know Bode personally wrote: 鈥淍thatdylanbode I know how much Coldplay has meant to you in this life. This is absolutely amazing so much love my friend鈥.
The hit British band is playing three shows in Auckland, with the final concert tonight, as part of their Music of the Spheres World tour.
It is the first time they have performed in New Zealand since 2016.
