It鈥檚 clear what it looks like, but do first impressions ring true?
A New Zealander who posted a photograph showing the unusual item he has spoken out to reveal the truth behind the viral snapshot.

The post quickly went viral and many people believed, based on the photo alone, that the poster might be right.
鈥淒oes that make you Lord of the Rings?鈥 a fan of Middle Earth asked.
鈥淗ole-y cow,鈥 joked another.
Others were more frank.
鈥淭hat鈥檚 a butthole,鈥 said one.
When the Herald contacted the unlucky pie fan he said he was surprised by the attention his post had received and clarified that he encountered the Pam鈥檚 brand pie in 2019.
Asked to comment on the texture and taste of the baked treat, he said it 鈥渢asted like pie鈥.
鈥淚t was too chewy ... and after putting my tongue through it I spat it out knowing exactly what I thought it was,鈥 he said, noting that his comment was tongue in cheek.
鈥淚 knew it wasn鈥檛 a butthole and just chucked it out.鈥
He claimed he complained to Pam鈥檚 owner, Foodstuffs, at the time and was given a $5 voucher and an explanation.
鈥淚 was told it was possibly an artery,鈥 he said.
A Foodstuffs spokesperson underlined the company鈥檚 efforts to maintain the 鈥渉ighest standards鈥.
鈥淲e aren鈥檛 able to provide any authoritative information about this pie as we understand it dates back to 2019. Given the time that has passed, we don鈥檛 have the necessary details to speak confidently on this matter,鈥 the spokesperson said.
鈥淲e take food safety very seriously and have strict processes and protocols in place to ensure we maintain the highest standards and are compliant by New Zealand standards.鈥
Asked if the experience put him off pies, the man said he was undeterred.
鈥淣ot at all, you get the odd surprise in cheap pies. It could be an extra chunk of steak or something that resembles an ***hole. Luck of the draw.鈥
