A US woman married her boyfriend after she broke up with him and then he suffered a head injury that caused him to forget about their split.

The Hollywood-worthy love story played out in 2020 when Utah woman Jenna Brotherson decided she was 鈥渙verwhelmed鈥 and had to call an end to her relationship with boyfriend Mitchell.

Brotherson, now 27, shared the story on TikTok, revealing that 鈥渢hings weren鈥檛 working out鈥 and she and Mitchell had a 鈥渞eally good conversation鈥 and agreed to separate.

But just one day after their heart-to-heart Mitchell suffered a head injury after a ski flip went wrong.

鈥淗e blacked out and didn鈥檛 know what was going on. He was really out of it and he didn鈥檛 remember that I had broken up with him,鈥 she shared.

鈥淚 got a call and a text from him and he was like, 鈥業 just had an accident at the ski resort and I need you to come pick me up because I can鈥檛 drive鈥.鈥

Brotherson said she couldn鈥檛 work out why he was messaging and did not go to his aid.

Mitchell, in the dark about his relationship status, kept pursuing Brotherson to hang out.

鈥淲hat is he not getting about me breaking up with him?鈥 she thought.

When she messaged him to say she was feeling unwell, he showed up at her door with ice cream.

His ongoing kindness softened Brotherson鈥檚 stance and she decided to give Mitchell another shot.

She told him she regretted their breakup 鈥 and realised that he did not have a clue it had even happened.

鈥淚 was like, 鈥業鈥檓 so sorry I broke up with you. I鈥檝e had time to think about it and you鈥檝e just been so awesome, I wanna get back together鈥,鈥 Brotherson said.

鈥淚 then come to find out the concussion was really bad, and he didn鈥檛 remember us breaking up, so he just thought we were still dating.鈥

She told People magazine that getting back together was easy, because Mitchell never felt that they were really apart.

Five months later he proposed and they married just three weeks after that.

鈥淲e are both 27 now and when people ask us about our love story it鈥檚 our favourite part to tell,鈥 Brotherson told People.

鈥淲e really felt invisible strings pulling us together all along.鈥
