Water sports organisations are the big winners in the latest round of grants from the New Zealand Community Trust in the Gisborne district.
A total of $198,300 is shared among seven organisations.
The biggest grant, $70,000, goes to Waikanae Surf Life Saving Club for costs associated with a head coach, five lifeguard instructors and a club manager.
Horouta Waka Hoe Club receives $45,000 for waka and accommodation; Swim for Life Tair膩whiti, $37,100 to go towards swimming lessons and the contract fee for the trust manager; Tair膩whiti Voyaging Trust, $20,000 for two waka taurua, a custom trailer and cover; and Toitu Ng膩ti Porou Trustee Ltd, $20,000 for event costs.
Bowls Gisborne-East Coast receives $5000 for the costs of a contractor, and CCS Disability Action Tair膩whiti Hawke鈥檚 Bay receives $1200 for information technology equipment.
Gaming venues Bar 59 and Bollywood Stars contributed to these grants.
