Will the Takah膿 triumph, the P膩rera prevail or the Kea conquer?
Voting for Bird of the Year 2019 has opened today, and campaigning is well underway.
Last year the kerer奴 took the title.
Forest & Bird spokesperson Laura Keown says it's the first time people won't have to choose just one bird - but will be able to rank their top five choices.
She says it's sparked a coalition called 'The Penguin Party'.
"All of the penguins have joined forces to all try to get as many penguin votes as possible."
She says the competition is a whole lot of fun - but also has a serious side.
"Three-quarters of our native birds are in serious trouble. The more chances people have get to know the birds, the more they'll love them and the more they'll want to take care of them."
Voting is open until November 10th.听
