The South Island ski season is officially over, both Mount Hutt and Cadrona are now closed.
Both fields closed yesterday and some late snowfall meant that Mount Hutt stayed open for a week longer than planned.
Mount Hutt area manager James Mckenzie said they had eight to nine hundred skiers every day this week.
"The whole week's worked out pretty well for us so we're pretty ecstatic that we've managed to extend our season for the extra week."
Mckenzie said they haven't finalized their plans for the off season yet, but they've got a few ideas.
"You know ultimately we want to try and work on improving access to the mountain with improvement from the access road and look at ways to extend our beginner terrain so they'll be the sort of key focus areas for us over the summer."
