There's hope the new government will stay committed to an initiative to house the homeless in Christchurch's CBD.
The Central City Business Association has set itself an ambitious target of having no homeless in the CBD within two years.
Manager Paul Lonsdale is keen to have a program that provides the city's homeless with the proper services.
"The idea is to first house these people but along with housing making sure an intensive wrap around service is placed around the individuals," he said.
He said the National Government was set to implement a Housing First Initiative in Christchurch.
The idea follows a $4.7 million initiative in Auckland which has seen more than 150 people put into homes since March.
Labour committed to taking "serious action" to end homelessness in line with the Cross-Party Homelessness Inquiry.
