After many failed attempts, divers have begun to film the fishing trawler FV Jubilee on which three men drowned.
The 90 tonne vessel remains on the ocean floor of the Canterbury coast, 40-metres below sea level after it capsized and sunk in high winds last October.
The bodies of the three men have already been recovered.
TAIC Chief investigator Tim Burfoot said since they can't raise the Jubilee, another course of action's had to be taken before the weather gets worse.
"Extensive videoing of the wreck, removing items of interest- we'll bring those back for further inspection, that's been going on yesterday, we hope that that'll be all complete by tonight."
A final report's expected in October.
