An 11-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly hurling rocks at an elderly man in the suburb of .
A said they were aware of a 鈥渃oncerning incident鈥 on Anzac Rd on Wednesday evening, during which an elderly man had rocks thrown at him.
The spokesperson said the incident had generated a 鈥渓arge amount of discussion鈥 on a local community Facebook group.
The anonymous post to Facebook 鈥 about 6.41pm on Wednesday 鈥 shared a picture of four young boys, with the caption; 鈥淭hese kids went up behind a man sitting on the grass and threw rocks at his back. They鈥檙e swearing at passers by who tried to intervene.鈥
Commenters on the post alleged the group were involved in several other incidents in the Browns Bay community.
鈥淣eed to stand together as a community and do something when you see this happening,鈥 one person wrote.
Police said they shared the community鈥檚 concerns about this 鈥渦nacceptable behaviour鈥.
鈥淥ur Browns Bay Community Officers have since identified the young boy involved, an 11-year-old, and he has been apprehended,鈥 the spokesperson said.
The boy was 鈥渂eing dealt with鈥 through Youth Aid.
