Auckland house prices have slowed, but the Government's not taking it as a sign they've solved the housing crisis.
QV data shows prices only went up 0.2 percent for the month of December.
Housing Minister Nick Smith sees it as a sign Government policies are working, but said it's too soon to know if they can call it a success.
"I'm cautious with just one month of data of drawing too stronger conclusions, we'd want to see several more months for us to be able to say that we're out of the woods on Auckland house prices."
Mr Smith said it doesn't reduce the urgency to release Crown land for housing development.
"We're mainly focused on addressing the supply issues we think that's at the core of addressing long term price, the truth is that for more than a decade Auckland has under-built the number of houses that are required."
