
Hamilton Police shot a runaway bull this morning after two people were injured and a 鈥渟mall number鈥 of properties were damaged.
A police spokesperson said a 鈥渓oose bull running around鈥 was reported at about 10.20am.
鈥淥ne person has been reportedly injured by the bull, and they are in a moderate to serious condition,鈥 police said.
鈥淎 small number of properties have been damaged.鈥
At about 11.30am, 鈥減olice used a firearm to euthanise the bull鈥.
鈥淧olice are making enquiries into the matter.鈥
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said a rapid response unit, ambulance and operations manager attended an 鈥渁nimal incident鈥 at Lake Crescent, Hamilton Lake.
St John was notified at 10.25am.
鈥淭wo patients, both in moderate conditions, have been transported to Waikato Hospital,鈥 the spokesperson said.
A Hamilton City Council spokesperson said the council was 鈥渁ware of the incident鈥.
鈥淧olice are leading the response so any queries should be directed to them.鈥
A woman provided footage of the bull鈥檚 wanderings through Hamilton to the Herald.
鈥淐ow on the loose near hospital causing havoc,鈥 the woman said.
鈥淧olice have been [trying] to contain for an hour.鈥
Social media posts suggested the bull may have escaped from a livestock sale yard in the neighbouring suburb of Frankton.
鈥淸It] ran along the tracks and somehow made it to Innes Common where it gave a member of the public a hongi,鈥 one Facebook comment said.
