Posties in Hawke's Bay are facing an increasing threat of more dog attacks.
Figures released by New Zealand Post show there were 10 incidents involving aggressive dogs and Posties last year - the highest number recorded since 2009 when there were zero.
So far in 2014, there has already been five.
Three Posties have been injured from dogs.
NZ Post spokesman Marty Buckley says they take the safety of Posties seriously, and they're frequently briefed about dogs and what to do if confronted.
