A person has died after a water incident in Mount Manganui.
A police spokesman said the person was pulled from the water unresponsive at Pilot Bay and emergency services were notified just before 8.20am.
鈥淚nquiries are ongoing, and a formal identification process is under way.鈥
Earlier, a SunLive reader said about 12 people were standing around a white sheet.
鈥淭wo ambulances, one fire truck and two police cars were present,鈥 the reader said.
A Pilot Bay resident said they believed the person had been swimming.
Emergency services are at Pilot Bay, Mount Maunganui, this morning.
The incident is believed to have occurred between Commons Ave and Leinster Ave.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they were notified of an incident near The Mall, Mount Maunganui about 8.18am.
