Strangers targeted in unprovoked West Auckland attacks, police search for man

Police are looking for a man following two unprovoked attacks on strangers near a West Auckland shopping centre.

A police spokesperson said the first assault occurred on Veronica St near the LynnMall shopping centre in New Lynn about 11.45am on Tuesday, December 10. The second assault was soon after on nearby Great North Rd.

鈥淏oth assaults are described as unprovoked on complete strangers. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured,鈥 police said.

鈥淧olice investigating the matter would like to speak with this man as he may be able to assist with our inquiries.鈥

Images released of the man show him wearing a black or navy jumper, long cargo pants and sneakers.

Anyone who recognises the man, or has information that can help police locate him, is asked to contact the 105 phone service, using the reference number 241210/2814.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
