Northland听police are investigating the unexplained death of a young child from nine years ago.听
Four-year-old Alestra Kepa-Hati died in Kaikohe in October 2015.听
Detective Senior Sergeant Christian Fouhy says at the time she was living with caregivers in the rural town.听
鈥淎s part of this investigation, we are looking into the circumstances of her death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained.听
鈥淧olice, including the CIB, are making further enquiries into this matter, and are gathering information about the circumstances leading up to Alestra鈥檚 death.鈥听
He said police were working to analyse all information and were asking for anyone with information to come forward.听
鈥淭he death of a child is a tragic and distressing incident for all involved and police are working to understand exactly what has happened.听
