A manhunt's is continuing in Auckland for an offender who strangled a police officer.
30 year old Mansell Penetana has been on the run since Sunday.
Penetana attacked the police officer when they arrested him at a Parakai property, for failing to appear in court on an assault charge.
The officer managed to break free and call for assistance, and Penetana fled.
Police have carried out searches in Whangarei and Helensville, but have been unable to find him and have received very little information from the public.
A 2001 black Mazda Tribute station wagon was stolen around the time of the assault and Police say it's possible Penetana is, or has, travelled in this vehicle.
