M膩ori Development Minister Willie Jackson says in his opinion Act leader David Seymour - who he once described as a useless M膩ori - is the country鈥檚 most dangerous man, and if he gets into power will make life a misery for more than M膩ori.

Jackson said Seymour鈥檚 Trump-like rhetoric was anti-M膩ori and in an instant would wipe out decades of M膩ori development.

Both were involved in a fiery political debate last night in Auckland.

鈥淚 want to say to our people, be very nervous because a National-Act Government will do away with everything that is dear to us. David Seymour鈥檚 already threatened that,鈥 Jackson told the听Herald.

In his opinion: 鈥淚 think he鈥檚 the most dangerous man that we鈥檝e ever seen in New Zealand politics. He gets away with it because he鈥檚 quite articulate, well-dressed.

鈥淭his is someone who will challenge and has challenged every High Court and Supreme Court judge who鈥檚 been in place since 1987.

鈥淗e thinks they鈥檙e all wrong. He thinks every Prime Minister since 鈥87 is wrong when they agree and talk about partnership between M膩ori and the Crown.

鈥淗e believes that鈥檚 nonsense. He is saying that there鈥檚 no partnership in the Treaty and wants the Treaty revamped and reshaped. It鈥檚 Donald Trump-type politics.鈥

Seymour said one of Jackson鈥檚 oral skills was his ability to exaggerate and Jackson needs to explain what makes him so dangerous.

鈥淧eople are tired of accusations of racism. It is a very serious accusation and people who make it need to explain what it is that I have ever said or done they believe is racist,鈥 the Act leader said.

鈥淩acism is treating someone differently because of their race. It is a strange irony that we are called racist for criticising Government policies that treat people differently because of their race.

鈥淭here are M膩ori and Pacific people who are doing extremely [well] and there are non-Maori and non-Pacific people who are having problems.鈥

But Jackson said Seymour is rolling out the same rhetoric and divisive politics, just like Trump when he won the US presidency.

鈥淭rump said the same thing in America and changed the laws,鈥 Jackson said.

鈥淪eymour wants to do the same thing. He wants to rehash, history in terms of the Treaty and rights.

鈥淗e doesn鈥檛 believe M膩ori have any rights that are derived from the Treaty.

鈥淎nd there鈥檚 no politician in terms of senior politician in the last 30 years who has had that view.

鈥淭here鈥檚 no politician who has been Prime Minister, deputy Prime Minister or senior minister who has agreed with him, not one politician apart from one - and that is Winston Peters.

鈥淎nd that鈥檚 the ironic thing, isn鈥檛 it?

鈥淭hey call them special rights. We know their Treaty rights, their indigenous rights.

鈥淭hey, every judge, every court, every prime minister, every senior minister has supported and agreed with [it], including the Act Party.

鈥淩odney Hide went on and actually agreed to set up the M膩ori statutory board, at was a Rodney Hide creation.

鈥淪o they鈥檝e all, they鈥檝e all supported it. But this guy Seymour says, no, I鈥檓 gonna give everybody the same rights and M膩ori will not have those rights anymore.

鈥淎nd I鈥檓 saying to our people to vote because if not, we let Seymour with his anti-M膩ori politics and his views into power.鈥
