There was no rendition of聽American Pie, but Tyson Fury is ready for a slice of the action when his long-time sparring partner Joseph Parker fights Faiga 鈥楧jango鈥 Opelu on Wednesday night at Melbourne鈥檚 Margaret Court Arena.
The reigning WBC heavyweight champion is in town to support his 鈥渂rother鈥 in a pivotal bout which will determine the trajectory of Parker鈥檚 career moving forward.
鈥淗e鈥檚 supported me in my career in Las Vegas and all over the world so I鈥檓 here supporting him and his fight in Melbourne,鈥 Fury said during Monday鈥檚 press conference.
The Brit is expecting 鈥渇ireworks鈥 in Melbourne and says he鈥檚 confident Parker can get back to the top of the world again.
鈥淛oe鈥檚 got very good work ethic, he鈥檚 got good drive and he wants it,鈥 Fury told 九一星空无限talk ZB.
鈥淗e鈥檚 had a couple of defeats along the way but he鈥檚 up there, he鈥檚 top-10 ranked in the world and he鈥檚 a force to be reckoned with on his night.鈥
Parker鈥檚 nutritionist George Lockhart has also been instrumental in the lead-up to the fight.
鈥淚鈥檝e seen a massive change in Joe. His body shape - I鈥檝e never seen him this ripped before and in as good a shape, so I鈥檓 excited for the fight,鈥 said Fury.
The 34-year-old Brit鈥檚 star power was on show at Margaret Court Arena, despite being slightly jet-lagged from the trip down under.
鈥淚 don鈥檛 think I鈥檝e even got the energy to go drinking and that鈥檚 very unusual for me,鈥 Fury said.
The Melbourne visit will keep Fury occupied with negotiations stalling with WBA, IBF and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk over an undisputed title fight.
When asked whether an agreement is close, Fury replied: 鈥淗ow long鈥檚 a piece of string?鈥
The Gypsy King鈥檚 presence is a much-needed boost to the No Limit Boxing event, following news the main event will no longer be for the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title.

It鈥檚 understood the corner of Opelu pushed for money to increase the fight to 12 rounds for the title, from the initial 10-round agreement that had been signed.
David Higgins, Parker鈥檚 longtime manager, expressed his disappointment.
鈥淚f you鈥檙e a boxer that backs yourself to win, why would you not want to fight for the title?鈥 Higgins queried.
Parker shared the same sentiment but was happy to get back in the ring again.
鈥淭he goal is to keep busy. I鈥檝e had one in January, I have one in May, hopefully August and then again in December and the only way to get momentum and to progress is to keep fighting often.鈥
After his first professional knockout defeat to Joe Joyce last September and a lacklustre win over Jack Massey in January, Parker wants to show he鈥檚 got some fight left in him.
鈥淚 know everyone鈥檚 here to support but I want to prove to myself what I can do.
鈥淣ow that I found the right balance, I feel I can go forever.鈥
