Police in the US have revealed a man鈥檚 disturbing Google search history after his ex-girlfriend went missing and was last seen on January 3.

Detriot woman Ashley Elkins vanished more than a week ago after she left her ex-boyfriend De鈥檃ndre Booker鈥檚 home on January 2 to run errands.

She messaged her family the same day telling them she was heading back from a beauty supply store. But more than a week later she still hadn鈥檛 been in contact, which was out of character, family say.

鈥淪he loves her family, her kids. She would never just disappear for this many days,鈥 her sister Alexis Elkins told Fox2.

The hunt for the 30-year-old mother of two has led police to scour a local landfill in Michigan after the discovery of Booker鈥檚 search history.

Her phone last pinged at her ex-boyfriend鈥檚 apartment. It is alleged he fled to the city of Flint, just over an hour out of Detroit.

Police accuse the ex-boyfriend of Googling 鈥渋s blood traceable鈥 and 鈥渉ow to beat a polygraph鈥 during the investigation into Elkins鈥 disappearance.

It is also alleged he searched for the fastest route to get to Ohio, a neighbouring state from Michigan where Elkins went missing.

The prosecutor also claimed Booker looked up what to do while on the run, and researched how to delete his Google search history.

Police found Elkins' car less than 7km from Booker鈥檚 apartment, and searched his property the same night. The next day he was arrested.

Booker, 32, has since been charged with allegedly lying to police.

Booker鈥檚 bond was set at US$250,000 ($446,000) with prosecutors arguing the search history suggests he could flee if released on bond.

Police seized a rubbish bin from the apartment as part of the investigation.

Booker previously served in the US Army but was removed from the military with a less than honourable discharge after going AWOL in 2017.

The previous year he was charged with several crimes while serving, including larceny and possessing fake identification documents.

He is due back in court next month.

Elkins has not yet been found.
