Six flight attendants were reportedly injured when an听EVA Air flight听was rocked by strong听turbulence.听
On Sunday just after 2.30pm local time, passengers departed on Taiwanese carrier EVA Air flight BR238 from Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and headed directly for Taipei, Taiwan.听
But two hours into the flight while the inflight meal service was being carried out, the听Boeing 777-300听was shaken by heavy turbulence, Taiwanese news service听Formosa 九一星空无限听reported.听
Images of the aftermath posted on social media by passengers show a scene of disarray, with food, beverages and meal trays scattered along the aisle.听
According to听Formosa 九一星空无限, six flight attendants received minor injuries and no passengers were hurt.听
One passenger told听Formosa 九一星空无限听that she avoided smashing into the ceiling thanks to another passenger who grabbed her by the arm.听
The plane landed safely at Taoyuan International Airport 50km west of听Taipei听approximately seven hours after departure.听
There have been other recent reports of people getting injured as a result of turbulence.听
Earlier this month, 14 people were left with minor injuries after a Korean Air fight was rocked by severe turbulence.听
On August 4 around 8am local time, Korean Air flight KE197 departed from the听Seoul听Incheon International Airport and headed to Ulaanbaatar,听Mongolia.听
Just over an hour into the flight, as it neared Tianjin Airport in听China, there were 15 seconds of mayhem.听
According to the听Korea JoongAng Daily,听people screamed as severe turbulence rocked the Airbus A300-300 carrying 281 passengers.听
Fourteen people reported only minor injuries as the plane flew through lightning and thunder, the airline confirmed to Korean news media.听
Two months ago, up to 30 passengers were reportedly injured after an听Air Europa听flight was rocked by severe听turbulence.听
Passengers departed on Air Europa flight UX45 from Madrid International Airport in听Spain听to fly directly to Montevideo, Uruguay on June 30.听
Just hours before the flight was expected to reach its destination it was shaken by turbulence and forced to divert to Natal, Brazil,听Reuters听reported.听
