A male contraceptive pill that could hit our shores in a few years' time is expected to change the dynamics of who's responsible for contraception.
Australian scientists are developing a hormone-free pill that blocks the transport of sperm.
It won't affect libido or fertility.
Family Planning chief executive Jackie Edmond told Kate Hawkesby many men would take this pill, especially young men because it's a good way of keeping themselves safe.
She says at the moment, women take most of the responsibility for contraception.
"Well certainly聽in New Zealand, vasectomy is very popular once people have finished having their families, but very much more so it's women prior聽to that time.
"I think there'd be many men that would take this pill. We know lots of young men probably would, it's a good way of keeping themselves safe as well."
