Time for the Vice-Presidential candidates to take the limelight in the United States.

The running mates for Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, Tim Kaine and Mike Pence respectively, will go head-to-head this afternoon in a debate in Farmville, Virginia.

US Correspondent Jennifer Strong told Rachel Smalley the two couldn't be more different when it comes to policy. She said聽Tim Kaine wants to raise the minimum wage.

"Mike Pence, the current Governor of Indiana, he does not. Pence would repeal universal health coverage here, known as Obamacare. He also supports his running mate's plan to build a wall along the US-Mexico border. Kaine of course does not.

"The one thing they both have in common, off the top of my head anyway, is they both supported the TPP trade deal - that was until they were named as running mates, and now both oppose it."

The debate will run for 90 minutes, beginning at 2pm today.
