A new school based programme aimed at educating young people about consent and healthy relationships is set to be rolled out nationwide.
ACC is pouring just over $18 million dollars in to the 'Mates and Dates' programme听which will be taught in secondary schools.
It follows the so called roast-busters scandal.
The programme teaches students to have respectful attitudes towards sex, instead of just the mechanics of it.
Adolescent and Primary Care health Specialist Doctor,听Sue Bagshaw,听says information around consent is very important.
"We need to start teaching about consent from birth, almost, but certainly kindergarten."
She says secondary school can be a very influential time.
"There is a lot of things we can do in intermediate school around preparing people for choosing the right path in terms of what they do about sex."
