If at first you don鈥檛 succeed, try again.听
A common sentiment, but particularly relevant for athletes, and one Hamish Kerr is familiar with.听
The Olympic high jump gold medallist told Mike Hosking that his first attempt at the Fosbury flop left him with a bloody nose, as he hit his nose against his knee on the way over.听
Kerr鈥檚 come a long way since that first jump, and now his goal is to leap 2.4 meters 鈥 four centimetres higher than his medal winning 2.36 meters. 听
鈥淔or me it鈥檚 just about getting stronger and faster and that鈥檚 something we really worked on this year,鈥 he told Hosking.听
鈥淧robably the most we鈥檝e done of that in my whole career, and that鈥檚, that鈥檚 why I鈥檝e done so well.鈥听
The world record is 2.45 meters, and if he continues the way he does, Kerr thinks the goal is within reach.听
鈥淚f I have another four years of that, then there鈥檚 no reason why I wouldn鈥檛 be getting better.鈥听
