As young people prepare to join the Strike for Climate today, the Greens are taking a stand to give them a voice at elections.
Party co-leader James Shaw says the voting age should be lowered to 16, because decisions politicians make will hugely affect their future.
He thinks they should have a say on who makes those decisions.
Make it 16 campaign spokesman Jackson Graham told Mike Hosking young people should be better represented in politics.
He says the youth of today are better educated but the current political system is built against them.
"Young people are driving political movements and should be allowed to vote. If people vote early, they vote often, so it will improve voter turnout."
